12 Killed After Police Raid Nightclub In Mexico City

Reported today: Panicked youths rushed for the exits during a police raid on a Mexico City nightclub on Friday, leaving at least 12 people dead in the crush of bodies.

Police targeted a Mexico City nightclub after hearing reports that drugs and alcohol were being sold to minors. Police raided the nightclub. Patrons panicked after hearing that they would be arrested and rushed for the door. As they rushed for the exit nine youths were crushed and 3 officers were killed in the chaos. There were 500 patrons in the club, but not enough emergency exits.

Most of the party-goers were school-aged kids celebrating the end of their academic year.
