Tim Russert died suddenly today of an apparent heart attack. He died after collapsing at NBC's Washington News Bureau, a source said. Russert was only 58 years old. This afternoon, Tim Russert was recording voice overs at NBC in a tracking booth when he fell over. He was conscious after he collapsed and complained that he could not breathe. Shortly after he passed, doctors have determined that he died of a massive heart attack. Russert and his family traveled to Italy a few days ago to celebrate his son Luke's graduation from Boston College. His wife and son still were in Italy at the time of Russert's death. His family was notified of his death before it was announced to the public.
Tim Russert was born in Buffalo, New York, May 7, 1950. His career was in political journalism. Known for his hard-nosed interviewing method, he was a political analyst for NBC Nightly News and The Today Show in the past. Up to the day he passed, he was host and managing editor of Meet the Press. Also, Russert was former New York Governor Mario Cuomo's press secretary and one-time chief of staff to the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
Tim Russert will be terribly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and TV audience.
